After birth, a new chapter begins

Postpartum is the period following childbirth: the body recovering, hormones readjusting, the bond with the baby forming, and often, a lot of fatigue and questions. Breastfeeding or not, chaotic sleep, return of periods, resuming physical activity, a disrupted couple's life: it's a demanding period that deserves real support.

What we cover in this category

Breastfeeding (getting started, pain, weaning), baby's sleep, post-childbirth gynecological follow-up, support for the first few months with your child. We intentionally separate this category from pregnancy because needs change completely once the baby arrives.

At Reflet, we believe postpartum is too often socially overlooked, when it is a true physical and emotional journey. Finding the right professionals to support you can make all the difference.

Questions about Postpartum ?

How long does postpartum last?

In France, there is no official duration, but the first 6 to 8 weeks after childbirth are generally considered the core of postpartum (the time it takes for the uterus to return to its normal size and for bleeding to stop). However, complete physical and hormonal recovery can take several months, or even up to a year. The mandatory postnatal check-up takes place between 6 and 8 weeks after birth.

What is the baby blues, and should you be concerned?

The baby blues affects up to 60 to 80% of women within 3 to 5 days following childbirth: crying spells, irritability, intense fatigue, feeling overwhelmed. It's linked to a sudden hormonal drop and usually resolves on its own within 2 weeks. If symptoms last longer than 2 weeks, intensify, or are accompanied by feelings of despair or difficulty bonding with the baby, it's time to consult a professional: it could be postpartum depression, which affects about 1 in 7 women and is very treatable with the right support.
