What you will learn in this episode
Potential hormonal difficulties
For a hormone to perform its role properly, several steps must work well:
- The “sending” body must be able to produce the hormone;
- The transport of the hormone must be properly made in the blood;
- The “receiving” body must be able to receive and use it.
👉 You can think of this as a “regular journey”: the hormone is created at point A, moves, then arrives at point B to act.
Hormonal dosages in the fertility check
In general, a Hormonal blood test is proposed if a pregnancy does not occur afterwards 12 months of regular sex without contraception.
The main hormones to check are:
- FSH : stimulates the production of eggs (and sperm in men);
- LH : trigger the ovulatory peak;
- Progesterone : key hormone of Nidation and uterine implantation;
- AMH : reflection of the ovarian reserve;
- Estradiol : an estrogenic hormone that also participates in triggering the ovulatory peak.
These hormones are essential for the menstrual cycle to function normally.
👉 It is recommended to be accompanied in case ofmedical history Or of Taking anti-inflammatories, which can disrupt hormonal function.
💡 Key figures
One 2025 review (Journal of Ovarian Research, August 2025) establishes that oocyte maturation, fertilization and embryonic development depend on the energy provided by the mitochondria. Their dysfunction, in particular because of oxidative stress, mitochondrial DNA mutations, or an insufficient number of mitochondrial DNA copies, is directly linked to a decline in oocyte quality, decreased fertility, and an increased risk of miscarriages.
If you are interested in oocyte quality beyond food, you can consult Carole Minker's program “Good Oocytes”. Carole is a pharmacist specializing in natural approaches.
Other key factors in the hormonal system
- Mitochondria : they provide the energy essential for the proper functioning of cells, including for hormonal production;
- The liver : it plays a central role in recycling and elimination of estrogens.
👉 Taking care of your liver is therefore essential for the overall balance of the organism.
For example, limiting or promoting a diet rich in fiber and a variety of vegetables is a first step in taking care of this overall balance.
The role of food and micronutrition
An adapted diet and certain micronutrient intakes can help:
- Improving oocyte quality (i.e. egg health);
- But Never the oocyte quantity, which is fixed from birth.
An important point of vigilance
Laura recalls that every step must be taken with medical follow-up, especially if you are on a journey of LDCS, or if one is concerned by disorders such as PCOS Or theendometriosis.
🔎 Useful definitions
Hormone: Molecule secreted by a well-differentiated structure (endocrine cell or gland), in response to stimulation, reaching the bloodstream and capable at very low doses of intervening on a target organ or tissue carrying a specific receptor.

🔊 Laura's popularization: chemical substance that is like a message, that sends requests or information to the brain for the body to function properly.
